Contact: USDA EXTENDS PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD ON DEREGULATION OF GENETICALLY ENGINEERED SOYBEAN WASHINGTON, Nov. 4, 2009--The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is extending the public comment period on a petition from Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc., seeking a determination of nonregulated status for a soybean that has been genetically engineered to have higher levels of oleic acid and lower levels of linoleic and linolenic acids in its oil. This action was published in the Oct. 26 Federal Register. Consideration will be given to all comments received on or before Dec. 28. You may submit comments by either of the following methods:
